Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to hand several young players invaluable Champions League experience against Bursaspor.

Darren Fletcher, Gabriel Obertan and Bebe struck in the second half at the Ataturk Stadium, putting the Reds on the brink of the knockout stages and also continuing this season's trend of sharing a goalscoring burden previously shouldered by Wayne Rooney.

"They're young players and getting the experience of tonight is as important as anything, but they did perform well too," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. "They did really well, we're very pleased with them.

"Gabriel's had a couple of injuries, but he's only 20 and he's developing very well. He's much stronger now and he is a real good talent. His goal tonight showed that.

"It's not a bad sign (that the goals are being shared). When you think about our midfield players over the years - Scholes, Keane, Nicky Butt, Beckham, Giggs - and it's good to get a healthy return like that from everyone.

"Darren has got the energy and the engine to get up and down the pitch and get in positions like he did today. He usually gives a reasonable return, usually around four or five goals a season. If he can increase that, maybe double it, that'd be fantastic."

Victory in Turkey came at a cost, with both Fletcher and Nani limping off with injuries, and Sir Alex refrained from diagnosing the pair ahead of the four-hour flight back to Manchester.

"It's difficult to say, we'll see what Nani's like tomorrow," he said. "The problem is travelling back, of course, and Darren Fletcher got an ankle injury today so we've got a couple to concern ourselves about but hopefully they'll be alright."

United now need only avoid defeat against Rangers on Matchday Five in order to seal a berth in this season's second round, but Sir Alex insists his side will be going to Ibrox in search of victory, saying: "A draw would put us through, so we'll be go up there trying our best to win the match like we did tonight."
