BackThe Manchester United hero wants to play a full part in Old Trafford's title celebrations - and make sure he is in tip-top shape to face Barcelona tomorrow week.
Fergie has indicated he will ring the changes against the Seasiders to ensure his key men are fresh for the Champions League final at Wembley.
But Rooney would prefer to be on the pitch than in the stands.
He said: "It's down to the manager to pick what teams he wants to play in the two matches.
"But I'm sure all the players want to play. You play football to play in these games and I hope I can play on Sunday.
"You want to keep ticking over."
Rooney cannot wait to get his hands on the Premier League trophy again, after missing out to Chelsea last season.
He added: "Lifting the trophy is a great feeling.
"It's great to look back on and is something to show your kids when they are older."
Fergie hear my plea
