Speaking at the announcement of this season's Serie A fixtures, Paolillo told Sky Sport Italia: "Are Manchester United still after Sneijder? We haven't seen or heard from anyone; that's a story I've heard from you.

"Is Wesley definitely not for sale? I don't think there's anything that can't be sold, it all depends on the price. You never say no if a big opportunity comes your way, but it does have to be a real opportunity."

United are suffering a dearth of creative midfield players in the squad since Paul Scholes' retirement and Holland International Sneijder has monitored by United as a possible replacement. But Sir Alex Ferguson's interest in the striker appeared to have waned last week with Sneijder's wages and transfer fee proving prohibitive.

Ferguson recently insisted that United would not bring in any more players during the summer transfer window, claiming that none of his top targets were available. Related Articles
