Sneijder is keen to transfer to manchester united (#2857) on 06-06-2011 at 13:33:03

Wow, strong words coming up in three, two, one, NOW. "We know that Wesley (Sneijder) is really, really keen to move to Manchester. I think United most of all. I think he knows Paul Scholes is retiring and that is the job for him - perfect. The big stumbling block is his wages. He's probably the best-paid player in Serie A, and he's been proving he's worth that money, now it's whether the Glazers can come up with that."  says the Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan, who spoke to TalkSport this morning.

talkSPORT's man in Holland Marcel van der Kraan admits the £175,000 p/w wages are the only thing holding up Manchester United's deal for Dutchman Wesley Sneijder.

not happening?

Man United boss Alex Ferguson can now concentrate on Samir Nasri after his hopes of signing the Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder have been dashed with the player committing his future to his club Inter Milan.

Ferguson had hoped to sign the 27 year-old as a replacement for the now retired Paul Scholes, but is now surely going to step up his bid to persuade Samir Nasri to either sign a new contract with Arsenal or to leave the Emirates to join the Premier League champions at Old Trafford.

Sneijder was asked if he would be leaving Inter and he replied: ?There is a family atmosphere at Inter and there are all the ingredients to aim high, Milan is marvellous, picturesque and full of elegance. I love it. At the moment I am very happy here and I don?t see why I should leave.? He joined the Italian giants in 2009 after two failed seasons with Real Madrid, and then went on in his first season with the Nerazzuri to help them win the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Serie A

Injuries have hindered the former Ajax midfielder this season, and he has scored just four goals for Inter, this however has not stopped a number of top clubs vying for his signature, and with his contract running out in June 2015, it looks like he won?t be leaving for Inter for some time.

Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini has confessed that playmaker Wesley Sneijder could be on his way out of the club this summer.

The 27-year-old Dutch international has been the topic of much speculation in recent months, with Manchester United reportedly his most favoured destination, and in Gasperini's debut press conference at Inter, the tactician admitted his time in Milan may be coming to an end.

"Some players may be forced to change their position on the field, such as Sneijder, but he could also end up on the market," said Gasperini.

"He has obviously been a great player for Inter, but the situation in 40 to 50 days time is hard to predict."

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill have confirmed that Manchester United are not currently in talks for a central midfielder, although the chief exec claimed that there were three players we were looking at whose deals could be completed once we return from America.
Fergie?s bff, Bob Cass at The Daily Mail, has a quote from the manager which confirms that we have approached the player.
?If he wants to come he must accept our contract offer. If not, we have other options in mind. We?re done talking.?
Sneijder was in Dublin today with Inter Milan and some fans there claim that as he was getting on the bus he put his thumb up when asked was he joining United.
